Tigers sending six to nationals

Six Fort Hays State University track and field athletes qualified for the NCAA Division II championships.
Sophomore Makayla McPhail and junior Holly Brown qualified in the javelin.
On the boys' side, freshman high jumper Jordan Carlisle, senior hammer thrower Tim McElroy, sophomore pole vaulter Brett Ottley and sophomore long jumper/triple jumper Mark Riordan all qualified. It is the first NCAA qualification for all six championships, except for McElroy.
McPhail automatically qualified at the first meet of the year and ranks No. 2 in the country with a school record 159-4.
Brown is ranked No. 15 with a season-best throw of 140-2.
Ottley, from Victoria, is ranked No. 11 in the pole vault at 16-2.
McElroy, from Logan, ranks No. 14 in the hammer throw at 197-10, while Riordan is No. 13 in triple jump (49-7 1/4) and No. 19 in the long jump (24-1 1/2). Carlisle is seeded No. 16 in the high jump at 6-10 3/4.
