FHSU thrower earns more accolades

Fort Hays State University junior Makayla McPhail earned her second all-American honor in the javelin on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Pueblo, Colo.
McPhail took second with a season-best throw of 158 feet and 1 inch, but she was upset by Seton Hill's Mallory Sanner, who threw 162-2. Sanner's previous best throw ranked 12th nationally.
Senior Max Alonso took ninth in the shot put with a throw of 57-9.75 -- one place short of all-American honors. He took 15th in the discus Friday with a toss of 161-1.
