Tigers' Roberts earns MIAA award

Fort Hays State University middle hitter Leanna Roberts received good news Monday.
The junior was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Player of the Week. In five matches, Roberts averaged 4.53 points, and hit .449 percent.
Against Newman University on Sept. 4, Roberts hit .765, and had two assisted blocks in a 3-0 Tiger win. At the Abilene Christian (Texas) Tournament on Friday and Saturday, she scored 17.5 points. In the Tigers sweep of Angelo (Texas) State on Friday, she hit .684.
The Tigers being Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play with a 7 p.m. match against Washburn Uniersity on Wednesday at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
