Tiger wrestlers head for nationals in Omaha

Tiger wrestling coach Chas Thompson knows anything can happen at the NCAA Division II national tournament.
He just hopes it's a good thing.
Fort Hays State University, ranked 13th in the nation, will send five wrestlers -- three ranked -- to this weekend's season finale in Omaha, Neb.
"I think some good things can happen," Thompson said. "At the national tournament, crazy things can happen, hope crazy things happen in our favor."
The key will be getting off to a good start on Friday.
"Got to win that first-round match," Thompson said. "That's crucial."
Of the Tigers' three ranked wrestlers, junior 141-pounder Andre Harrison (21-4) is now ranked the highest, moving to No. 1 in the nation in the latest rankings. He has won 17 of his last 18 matches.
Senior Tommy Edgmon (19-3) is ranked third at 125 pounds and senior Danny Grater (22-8) is second at 157. Grater won his 100th career match at the super regional.
Both Edgmon and Grater were All-Americans last year, while senior Blake Malloy, who also is at the season finale, was an All-American two years ago. Malloy (32-8) has been ranked for most of the season at 165 pounds.
Also making the trip is senior Shawn Kuhlman (21-13), who is unranked at 174 pounds.
"I would like to get a couple in the finals, get a shot at a national title," Thompson said. "I think we can do some good things, all five of them."
