AlAMOSA, Colo. -- The No. 17 Fort Hays State University wrsetling team picked up a solid dual victory on the road Friday night, knocking off No. 14 Adams State (Colo.) College on its home mat.
Fort Hays won 27-17, marking the first time this season the TIgers had defeated a higher-ranked opponent.
Tiger 125-pounder Tommy Edgmon, who had moved up to No. 1 in NCAA Division II was defeated by No. 3 Arsenia Barksdale of Adams State, 4-1. It was a rematch of last year's national championship game, also won by Barksdale. Fort Hays, though, took six of the 10 matches for the dual victory, the Tigers' fourth dual victory in a row, including Thursday's 31-9 rout of New Mexico Highlands Univeristy on the road in Las Vegas, N.M.
The Tigers are on the road again this week, facing CSU-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo. on Thursday, then the Tigers will compete in the Kansas Cup on Sunday in Wichita.
