Wrestling splits on road

GUNNISON, Colo. -- After picking up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual win No. 4 on the season Friday night in Grand Junction, Colo., the No. 19 Fort Hays State University wrestling team fell short of No. 4 Western State (Colo.) College on Saturday.
Fort Hays (7-3 overall, 4-1 RMAC) defeated Mesa State (Colo.) Colelge 31-6 Friday, only to fall to the Mountaineers, 25-9 last night.
In the dual Friday, Fort Hays' only losses came at 133 and 157 pounds. At 133, redshirt freshman Travis Kuhn fell 8-7 to Rhett Breed of Mesa, and No. 4 ranked Danny Grater dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 3 Chase Walker.
At 141 pounds, Fort Hays senior James Annon won an 11-6 decision to move to 18-5. Annon was won of the Tigers two wins Saturday.
Against Western State, Annon recorded a pin over Daren Hockett to score the Tigers' first points, and junior Tyler Gonzales won at 184 pounds by a 1-0 decision.
The Mountaineers, who upset No. 4 ranked University of Nebraska-Kearney the night before, have four ranked wrestlers.
The Tigers host No. 7 ranked Adams State (Colo.) College in their final home dual of the season Friday at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
