HOUSTON -- Fort Hays State University junior Tommy Edgmon achieved All-American status along with junior Danny Grater on Saturday for the Tiger wrestling team. Edgmon, the 125-pounder from Goddard, battled his way through the winners' bracket at the NCAA Division II national championships and finished second place.
Edgmon fell 3-1 in Saturday's title bout to Adams State (Colo.) College's Arsenia Barksdale. Edgmon was the only Tiger to finish in the top five.
At 141 pounds, Tiger senior James Annon went 1-2, winning his first round match Friday, but fell in the second round. Annon then lost his first consolation match.
At 157 pounds, Grater made it all the way to the championship semifinals before dropping three straight matches to finish in sixth place in a 5-2 loss to Mesa State's Chase Walker.
At 165 pounds, Tiger senior Troy Lussenhop dropped his first-round match, but picked up a win on the consolation side, before falling out of the bracket.
The Tigers' other qualifier, junior Tyler Gonzales finished 0-2 at 184 pounds.
