Tiger wrestlers begin 2009-10 campaign at Central Missouri

The Fort Hays State University wrestling team begins its second season under coach Chas Thompson on the road this weekend at the Central Missouri Open in Warrensburg, Mo.
The Tigers, preseason No. 14 in NCAA Divsiion II, return a host of experience off last year's second-place Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team, and two All-Americans from last year's squad.
The roster includes six seniors, five juniors, seven sophomores and 15 freshmen.
The Tigers were picked to finish fourth in the RMAC preseason coaches poll released a few weeks ago, behind Adams State (Colo.) College, Western State (Colo.) College, and the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Fort Hays is coming off a 17th-place finish at the Div. II national tournament, paced by top-six finishes for Tommy Edgmon and Danny Grater, both seniors this season.
Edgmon finsihed runner-up a season ago, and enters the season with a No. 2 ranking at 125 pounds, while Grater begins with a No. 3 national ranking at 157. Grater was sixth a season ago.
Following this weekend's opener at Central Missouri, the Tigers will be on the road at the University of Nebraska-Omaha Open on Nov. 21, than host the University of Central Oklahoma in the home opener on Dec. 3.
The FHSU/Bob Smith Open is scheduled for Dec. 5 at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
