Fort Hays softball team blanked twice

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University softball team was shut out Tuesday in both ends of a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association doubleheader.
The Tigers lost 8-0 in six innngs to University of Central Missouri in the opener, then lost 4-0 in the nightcap.
Fort Hays (19-20 overall, 1-3 MIAA) has lost three straight since winning five in a row. Win or lose, eight of the last 10 games have been decided by a shutout.
In Tuesday's opener, Central Missouri (17-7, 2-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, and tacked on three more in the sixth, collecting 13 hits off Tiger starter Kayla Rupa (10-13), who pitched 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.
The Tigers managed six hits, two from Alex Eaton, but left eight runners stranded.
In the nightcap, Adrian Mohr pitched six innings to take the loss, giving up six hits and four earned runs. All four runs for the Jennies came in the fifth inning. Fort Hays managed six hits, with three coming from Mohr.
The Tigers host Truman State (Mo.) University and Missouri Western State University in MIAA action this weekend at Tiger Stadium. Fort Hays will play a doubleheader with Truman State on Friday at 1 p.m., and a doubleheader with Missouri Western at noon Saturday.
