By The Hays Daily News

The Fort Hays State University men's and women's basketball programs have picked up honors from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

The Tiger men had two players make the all-MIAA team, and Mark Johnson was named co-coach of the year.

The Tiger women also had two players receive all-conference recognition.

For the Fort Hays men (22-5), ranked 13th in NCAA Division II, junior point guard Dominique Jones earned first-team honors, while junior guard Corbin Kuntzsch made the second team. Both players average 13 points per game. Jones leads the team in assists with four per game, and Kuntzsch leads in rebounding with six per game.

Jones became the first player to make the first team for Fort Hays since it joined the MIAA in 2006-07.

Johnson shared coaching honors with Kim Anderson of University of Central Missouri. The Mules won the MIAA regular-season title, with Fort Hays finishing second. Johnson also was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's top coach after the 2005-06 season.

For the Fort Hays women, senior guard Naomi Bancroft made first team all-MIAA, while senior forward Erica Biel was an honorable mention selection after making the first team last year.

Bancroft led Fort Hays (15-12) in scoring at 17 points per game, second-best in the conference. Biel was the second-leading scorer at 12.3 points per game and led the Tigers in rebounding with 6.9 per game.
