Fort Hays State University sophomore catcher Malinee Powell earned first team all-MIAA softball honors and seven other Tigers received recognition on the all-conference team.

Entering the MIAA postseason tourney, Powell led the MIAA in hits (63), was second in RBIs (45) and total bases (103) and was third in batting at .394, while hitting eight home runs. This is the fifth straight year a Tiger has been named to the first team.

Making the second team was junior first baseman Adriana Wortley. Receiving honorable mention honors were senior pitcher Kayla Rupa, senior outfielder Sara Tani, sophomore second baseman Britney Workman, sophomore shortstop Danie Brinkmann, junior third baseman Erin Dyok and sophomore utility player Maddie Holub.

Entering the MIAA tourney, Wortley was batting .317 with six homers and 26 RBIs; this is the second straight year she has made the second team.

Rupa, a three-time all-conference pick (twice honorable mention, once second team) was 14-13 entering the tourney.

Tani also is a three-time pick. After getting first team honors in 2008, she has had two honorable mention selections.

Workman is a first-time HM pick; she was hitting .324 at the end of the regular season. Brinkmann, an NCAA Division I transfer, was an HM pick after hitting .329 going into postseason. Dyok, also a transfer, was an honorable mention choice after batting .301 in the regular season.

Holub, a second-team pick last year as a freshman, was an honorable mention choice after tying Powell for the team lead in homers with eight after the regular season. She also was 12-7 as a pitcher.
