Tiger softball team unbeaten at tourney

PUEBLO, Colo. -- The Fort Hays State University softball team went 5-0 at the CSU-Pueblo tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The Tigers extended their season winning streak to six games after they went 2-0 on Saturday and won two more games Sunday.
On Sunday, the Tigers beat three Colorado teams, a 13-3 win against Fort Lewis, a 11-6 eight inning victory versus Metro State and a 7-5 win over Colorado Springs. On Saturday, they defeated Regis 7-1 and CSU-Pueblo 4-2.
Sophomore Jessika Anastos batted .778 in the five tournament games and collected three doubles, one triple, three homers and eight RBIs. Anastos, who is batting .667 this season, scored 11 runs in the five games Saturday and Sunday and has 14 in the first seven contests this year. Her offense helped Fort Hays (6-1) hit .386, slug .633 and record 61 hits in the tournament.
Freshman Kayla Rupa and senior Emily Rockefeller each pitched well in the tournament. Rupa recorded 18 strikeouts and two complete game victories and Rockefeller went 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA, including one run allowed in 10Ôªø1รขÑ3 innings versus Regis. Adrian Mohr picked up the other victory.
The Tigers play Thursday in a tourney in Phoenix.
