FHSU golfers end fall

DENVER - With three team members placing in the top five, the Fort
Hays State University women’s golf team won the Regis Invitational with
play wrapping up Tuesday.
Senior Dawn Eshbaugh paced the Tigers with a third-place finish in
the two-day event. She shot a 163, which was three shots better than
senior Shelby White and sophomore Kelsie Paul. White and Paul tied for
fifth in the individual standings. Sophore Kelli Caspers and senior
Molly Copper both medaled. Caspers tied for 11th, and Copper was 14th.
The Tigers won the tournament by 29 shots in front of runner-up
Montana State-Billings. It is the first team title Fort Hays has
claimed this fall.
Regis placed third in front of fourth and fifth place finishers Chadron State College and Colorado Christian University.
At Pittsburg, the Tiger men held their own in a tournament dominated by Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association teams.
The Tigers placed third Tuesday at the Pittsburg State Invitational,
just two shots behind Missouri Western State University, who finished
with a 587. Washburn University won the two-day event with a 564. It is
the fourth straight tournament the Icabods have won.
Fort Hays sophomore Jeff Roether finished a shot in front of
teammate junior Nick Rotolo for eighth with a 146. Senior Jamie Kuehl
and sophomore Brent Millikan tied for 12th in the individual standings
with two others.
The Ichabods Matt Ewald won the individual title with a 136.
The Invitational wraps up the fall season for Fort Hays.
