Tigers respond with two wins

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University volleyball team bounced back from an 0-2 start in the Ramada Inn Classic on Friday to win its final two matches.
The Tigers defeated Cameron University in their first match Saturday 30-24, 30-25, 27-30, 30-22. In their final match, the Tigers defeated Ouachita Baptist University in four games. After dropping the first game, 28-30, the Tigers fired back, winning, 32-30, 30-21, 30-24.
In the win over Cameron, Fort Hays (4-4) had three players finish in double-digit kills.
Senior Neeley Remmers led the way with 18. Senior Kellyn Thaut had 16, and junior Leanna Roberts finished with 13. Junior setter Whitney Hoffman had 50 assists, the third time this season she has eclipsed the 50 mark. Senior libero Whitney Miller finished with 26 digs.
Against Ouachita Baptist, the Tigers were lead by Thaut's 26 kills, and Hoffman had 57 assists.
On Friday, the Tigers opened the tournament by almost handing South Dakota its first loss in five matches this season before falling, 30-24, 20-30, 36-38, 32-30, 15-9. In the fourth game, Fort Hays had South Dakota on the ropes leading 29-28, before a rally took apart the Tigers' chance.
Against Indianapolis in the second match, a worn down Fort Hays team lost 30-23, 30-25, 30-20.
