Tigers jump into national rankings

The Fort Hays State University men's basketball team has returned to the national rankings.
The Tigers are ranked 22nd in NCAA Division II in this week's poll by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Fort Hays (6-1), whose only loss is against NCAA Division I Kansas State University, was last in the poll during the 2006-07 season. In the 2005-06 season, the Tigers climbed to No. 1 in the rankings.
Joining the Tigers in the rankings are two other Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association teams. University of Central Missouri (6-0) is ranked No. 1, while Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University (9-2) is ranked 13th.
Fort Hays, 1-0 in the MIAA, is in its home conference opener tonight against Northwest Missouri State University. The Tiger women will tip off at 5:30 p.m. at Gross Memorial Coliseum, followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
The Tiger women 6-1 after their first loss, last week against University of Nebraska-Omaha last week.
