Tiger softball splits Friday games

SAN ANGELO, Texas -- The Fort Hays State University softball team split two games Friday at the Blue and Gold Classic, halting the team's winning streak at five to start the season.
Fort Hays rallied to edge Texas A&M International 8-7 in Friday's first game, then the Tigers lost 3-2 to 21st-ranked Angelo State.
Against Texas A&M International, the Tigers trailed 7-2 entering their last at-bat, but scored six runs with two outs in the inning to take a one-run lead into the bottom of the seventh.
Tiger starter Adrian Mohr got the final three outs to improve to 3-0 on the season. Mohr allowed seven runs on eight hits, with three walks and seven strikeouts.
Cortney Brown drove in three runs for the Tigers, and Alex Eaton had three hits.
Tiger starter Kayla Rupa (2-1) scattered 11 hits, allowing three runs, in going the distance in Game 2.
Fort Hays (5-1) scored two runs in the sixth on Rupa's RBI double and a run-scoring single by Sara Tani.
