FHSU softball struggles on road

PITTSBURG -- The Fort Hays State University softball team went 1-4 in five games this weekend at Pittsburg State University. The Tigers lost three games on Friday and won two Saturday.
Fort Hays lost 1-0 to Pittsburg State University, 5-4 to Bellevue (Neb.) University and 5-3 to Missouri Southern State University.
On Saturday, they lost to Oklahoma City University 3-0 and beat Northwest Missouri State University, 2-0.
Sophomore left-hander Kayla Rupa tossed a complete game in the first loss and allowed two hits. In the second game, junior Adrian Mohr went 4-for-4 and pitched 61รขÑ3 innings, but Bellevue scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh on two singles. Against Southern, sophomore Erin Kinsey worked the first three innings and allowed three runs, two earned. With the score tied at three, Rupa (7-14) went the final five innings, allowed two runs and took the loss. Oklahoma City improved to 17-1 and Lily Lavelle to 7-0 with the shutout against Fort Hays. In the final game, Mohr improved to 6-3 when she went 2-for-4 with a complete game shutout.
