Maska competes in hammer throw

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Fort Hays State University junior Brady Maska opened competition for the Tigers at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, finishing 11th in the hammer throw on Thursday.
Maska went 178 feet, 4 inches in the event, getting off one good throw in the finals, with two fouls. Senior Kibwe Johnson of Ashland won with a throw of 222-8. Maska has two more events, the shot put and discus. He is ranked fourth nationally in the discus and fifth in the shot put.
Nine other Tigers will also compete this weekend in the track and field season finale.
