Bickley gets record

WICHITA -- With Friday night's 26-12 dual win over Newman University, Fort Hays State University wrestling coach Cody Bickley achieved a milestone.
Bickley passed Dave Winter for most career dual victories as Tiger coach. Bickley is now 55-40-5 in his eight seasons at Fort Hays, while Winter had 54 wins from 1963-70.
The Tigers won eight of 10 matches. The dual started with Fort Hays' Blake Fisher being pinned at 133 pounds, but the Tigers won the next five matches.
Junior James Annon won 10-7 at 141 pounds and Josh Pfannenstiel won 9-4 at 149 pounds, then Fort Hays took the lead with Danny Grater's 2-0 win at 157. Troy Lussenhop had a 10-0 major decision win at 165, and Blake Malloy was a 10-5 winner at 174.
Newman won the 189-pound match by pin over Shawn Kuhlman, but Fort Hays won 2-0 at 197 behind Tyler Gonzales, and Dustin Martin won 9-1 at heayweight. Kyle Patton won the last match, at 125 pounds, by a 9-3 decision.
Fort Hays, now 4-4 in duals, will wrestle University of Central Missouri Saturday in Warrensburg, Mo.
