Tiger wrestlers win first Kansas Cup

WICHITA -- The Fort Hays State University wrestling team won the inaugural Kansas Cup on Sunday.
The state's seven wrestling programs (NCAA Division II, NAIA, NJCAA) competed at Newman University. Fort Hays State won with 134 1/2 points and was followed by Labette Co. with 126.
The Tigers had six individual champions out of the 10 weight classes. Winning were Tommy Edgmon (125), Travis Kuhn (133), Andre Harrison (141), Blake Malloy (165), Chance Rencountre (184), and Justin Glenn (285). Finishing second were Levi Younkin (149) and Danny Grater (157). Shawn Kuhlman finished third at 174 and Steven Kyler was fourth at 197.
The Tigers return home this weekend for a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference duals against Western State (Colo.) College on Friday at 7 p.m. and Colorado School of Mines at 5 p.m. Saturday at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
