Tiger wrestlers go to nationals

KEARNEY, Neb. -- Five Fort Hays State University wrestlers qualified for the national tournament after the two-day Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Div. II West Regional championships were held Friday and Saturday at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
The top four with tiebreakers and wrestle-offs in each weight class qualified for nationals, held March 13-14 in Houston.
Junior Tommy Edgmon finished third in the 125-pound division for his first trip to the national tournament, while junior Danny Grater finished second at 157 pounds. Senior Troy Lussenhop was third at 157.
Senior James Annon, ranked No. 2 in the country and a returning All-American, was fourth at 141, but finished fifth. He eventually earned fourth and earned a trip to nationals because he defeated the eventual fourth place finisher, Daren Hockett of Western State (Col.) College, earlier in the tournament.
Junior Tyler Gonzales, also a returning national qualifer, was fourth at 184 and qualified fourth when he defeated fifth-place finisher Chadron State (Neb.) University's Ty Brown in a wrestle-off, 9-6.
