Tiger women fifth, men sixth at MIAA run

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University women finished fifth and the Tiger men sixth at Saturday's league cross country meet.

Missouri Southern State University captured both the men's and women's titles of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championships.

Jonel Rossbach of Emporia State was the women's individual champion in 22 minutes, 6 seconds. Dustin Dixon of Missouri Southern was the men's individual champion, in 26:07.

Ali Mishler was the top runner for the Fort Hays women, finishing 17th in 24:07. Ashlee Orr finished 20th in 24:20.

Sharley Schreiner was 29th in 25:03; Mallory Joseph was 30th in 25:07; Amie Algrim was 31st in 25:10.

Jackie Jamison, Shannan Herzet, Nikki Knowles, Daniela Sanchez, and Kylene Kirmer also ran for the Tigers.

Dan Yoder was the top individual finisher for the Fort Hays men, taking fourth in 26:29. Aaron Davidson was 34th in 28:13. Kody Cook was 45th in 28:56; Brendan Ptacek was 49th in 29:08; Matt Goetz was 55th in 29:30.

Also running were Justin McAlpin, Kevin Sander and Jordan Stroup.

Fort Hays will compete in the South Central Regional Championships Nov. 3 at Joplin, Mo.
